Hi Robin - the work I do is generally a subject matter that I enjoy. I love music and live performance so while it's definitely part of my life, it doesn't take precedence. I try to balance my other interests which includes community work so my activities as well as my outlook is diverse. On occassion they all overlap. I've attended events such as conventions where I am there on multiple levels; as a ticketing agent, a participant, a volunteer, and a vendor.
There's a slogan from a record label (Funtone) that I like to remind myself of: "if it's not fun, don't do it."
I like that mantra - "if it's not fun, don't do it." I need to practice that and have more fun in the process. It sounds like you have a full, rich and rewarding life and that is great to see. Keep on spitting it out.
Did you read the Rolling Stone article "Inside Ticketmaster's Empire"? As a frequent ticket buyer I found it interesting, although there is a lot of concern about Ticketmaster merging with Live Nation. I think TicketWeb serves smaller venues compared to TicketMaster -- is that correct?
Hi, yes, I did get the article sent from someone at our NY office. I know many people in the industry have concern over the merger and how it will affect fair competition.
TicketWeb has sort of a market in the indie venue arena, but we also ticket many specialty attractions and arts and culture type events from museum admissions to film festival.
First -- loved the "Spit it Out"
ReplyDelete...it's a lifestyle... I longed to add, "it's a life."
After working one place for lots of years, it can become part of your identity.
What do you think?
